Welcome to my abseiling discussion, opinion and information weblog.
Here I will post, discussion and information about abseiling.
My kids have done abseiling. Lots of people in the rest of the world have done abseiling. But for me, to do abseiling, would be an absolute nightmare.
Abseiling, bungee jumping, hang gliding and mountain climbing, for me are a massive no no!
I even get nervous when I’m climbing high hills!
Perhaps it is down to the years I have spent sitting in a little room staring at a computer monitor and trying to weave wonderful mysteries of the mind in my work as an author.
Hoverer, All this came to her head, when my mother died, and I found that my fear of heights had become even more pronounced. When I attended her funeral, it was at a very pretty church, above a small town called Watchet.
Apart from the anguish associated with the burial of my mother, the amount of blue sky I had above me make me distinctly woozy. I realised that I had to start dealing with this problem that had crept up and caught me unawares. The psychologists call it agoraphobia.
Now two years have passed and I am now able to revisit all my old haunts on the Exmoor Hills. It has been a struggle but to be able to appreciate the wonderful views again without feeling paralysed with fear has made all the effort worthwhile.
However, I think that abseiling would definitely be about 100 steps to far and I think I will leave abseiling to the adrenalin merchants.
Bye for now
